How many holes/courses does Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club have?

The Jose Maria Olazabal designed course has 3 combinations of 9 holes all of Championship standard, plus a 9 hole executive course. In total 36 holes with a possible combination of 4 courses. The par 3 course is also recognized by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation as an official course for tournaments, hosting various national championships. Which course is the easiest? And which course is the most difficult?

R. All the combinations possible are enjoyable and offer different experiences. All the holes have 4 separate tees to accommodate all levels of play and to permit each player to choose what distance they want to play the course. Especially recommended for families is the par 3 course as it’s the same standard as the Championship course except shorter and less demanding, however it’s also used by the best professionals and elite amateurs to enhance their short game.

Can I still use the facilities at Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club although I’m not a member?

Yes, the only condition being is that you possess a hándicap certifícate or card and pay your greenfee. You can also use the Driving Range by paying a small facility fee. Also if you’re a member from another course you may be entitled to a discount, for more information regarding discounts consult our staff.
You don’t have to be a member to use our Club House, restaurant or Pro Shop, however restrictions regarding clothing are in place and can be consulted just outside the pro shop or by speaking to our staff.

How do I book a tee time?

To book a tee time you can phone on +34 956 84 70 70 or by Fax on +34 956 84 70 50 alternately by emailing us at reservas@ballenagolf.com. Or on our website using our real time online reservations.

Why do you ask for my credit card details to book a tee time?


We retain your details but do not charge the card. The only time we charge your card is if you don’t cancel your booking within 48 hours of play and don’t show up. With years of experience in this matter we have come to the conclusion that many players who may have liked to play but couldn’t due to a fully booked course are turned away although tee time spaces are available. Using this manner of taking bookings we guarantee that all our clients have the opportunity to play.

Why arn’t there always tee times available on the course I want to play?


As on any golf course, some days are busier than others, this is why we recommend booking your tee time before hand. The course you request may not be available due to course maintenance necessary to keep the course in pristine order for our guests. For bookings or more information contact our booking department.

What is your dress code policy?

We don’t permit jeans, shirts without a collar or sleeves. Swimming trunks or sporting items not related to golf i.e. football shirts etc.

How do/can I become a member of Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club?

You can become a member of Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club but must possess the “Licencia Federativa Española de Golf con Handicap” available through the national federation, this card insures you and also allows you to play in competitions. Does Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club have an Academy?

What do I need to play on the course?

In accordance with Royal Spanish Golf Federation you must have a licence or hándicap certifícate accompanied by your greenfee. Also follow our course policies and follow all instructions given by our course Marshalls.

Can I use the Driving Range although I’m not a member?

Yes, by paying a small fee in the Pro Shop. However if you are playing on the day then the range is included in you greenfee.

Is the Par 3 course included in the driving range fee?


No, the driving range fee only includes the driving range and putting, chipping greens. To play the par 3 course you will have to pay your green fee in the pro shop.

What are you rental services? Can I rent clubs, trolleys, buggies or any other necessary items?

Yes, we have rental clubs, trolleys, buggies all available in the Pro Shop. Also any related items i.e. shoes, clothing, tees, balls etc are available in the Pro Shop. We recommend that you book all rentals before hand to guarantee their use to you. Also please adhere to all instructions given by our marshalls regarding use of buggies and trolleys during your round.

How long does it take to play your course?

We stipulate 4 hourse 30 minutes to play our course, we also have a guide to how long each hole must be played. Our staff will be on hand for any help or questions you may have during your round.
